Where in Chicago,ILL do they sell go karts?

I want to buy a nice cheap go kart. And i got about $800.|||Try the yellow pages.|||Where will you ride? Public streets and parks are off-limits. You will be restricted to unused parking lots.

How to use go karts on gran turismo 5 ?

how can you use the go karts on gran turismo 5 because i cant find out how to use them ?|||First you need a go-kart. I think you win one by completing the beginner's races in a-spec (the first box-forgot it's name). The races aren't hard there and I completed it with a Civic sitting at 1st place on all 3 tracks. It's the best way of getting the go-kart, another car and getting dough at the same time (not wasting any money). It'll also build your level.

Next, go to the garage and select the go-kart to drive.

Lastly, go to special events and you should see kart racing (it's the first box).

I think you do need to be level 1 before you can race go-karts though. I can't remember now. But if you did the first step you don't need to worry about it.

I鈥檓 about middle aged now, but I recall we were young often having fun with with a certain toy ride on go kart that individuals had in our kindergarten back yard. I'm trying to help my step son with his dream of racing go-karts/cars?

I'm trying to figure out how to help my stepson with his dreams, he doesnt have the support of funding with his racing dreams, we are looking for sponsors to help him succeed, we're doing all we can to help but we dont have the funds either to do it alone, does anyone know someone whom can help him get started? He will be willing to talk with someone and put his/her logo on the cars whom sponsor him. He's 14 and has won his go-kart race on 8-19-06. Thanks for anyone whom can let me know how to go about it. Thanks|||Seeing as he has started winning a bit, it makes it easier to ask businesses that you deal with to sponsor him. Start by asking for small amounts. What is the cost of a race entry? Ask for sponsors to pay one entry fee (sponsor that race) Sponsor one race and you put the sponsor's name on the cart for the whole season! It is easier to get 10 businesses to give $25 that it is to get one to give $250.

A very good idea is to take a picture of your stepson, and the cart, and give framed prints to each sponsor. You can buy a cheap frame at the dollar store, and pay 20 cents for a good print. Do not give them this the day they pay, come back a week or two later with it, so that you are not "selling" the picture, they have it as a thank you.

When he is ready to move up to a stock car, look for a dirt track that has a cheaper class for inexpensive racing Some tracks have what they call "junkyard stock:" where it is not that expensive to run. You do not say where you are located, so I can not point you in a direction, but look at your local tracks!

Good luck!!!|||Keep entering the small kart competitions. It'll get him recognized and alot of experience. Check the SCCA website in your area. That stands for Sport Car Club of America. They have neat autocross events where hundreds of professionals and hobbyists race. That would be a great place to get sponsorships.|||find a local track , and see if he can race enduro or i believe in some areas are called junkyard class or something similiar.

What type of steering is most commonly used on go-karts?

They usually use a shaft (that the steering wheel is connected to) linked directly to tie rods, then tie rods to pittman arms, then pitman arms to the spindle axles that are connected to stub axles connected to the front wheels.

I don't know that there's an official name for that type of setup (maybe there is, but I don't know what it is), but that's how it all connects on most fun/yard karts anyway. It's a "direct" setup with no gear reduction like you see on cars.

In my day boys made unmotorised Go Carts from old pram wheels and such but the promotion of "power" and speed to young boys can only be unhealthy for Society as a whole surely.

How on earth can it be "unhealthy for society as a whole" to give kids something to do? It keeps them from getting into trouble. It teaches them that there is a time and a place for speed and for racing. They learn the safety issues that are involved.|||I watched the "Dukes of Hazard" growing up and never jumped dirt hills, raced from the cops, spun donuts, or transported moonshime across state lines. I was taught that there was a time and place for all things. On the road in my parents car (or my own) was not the time or place to act a fool. Racetracks and go carts are built and intended to go fast and be mildly dangerous. Drag racing can be fun and challenging (and easy for younger drivers). Street racing is illegal and is dangerous for people that are innocent bystanders and should not be tolerated.

The youngsters competing with carts seem to be very positive and know what they want from life, they see it as a way into F1.

Educating youngsters and learner drivers is the responsibility of the parents.

My son, 29, has had it drummed into him that it is wrong to speed and wrong to drink and drive, now I don't even have to worry that he would even think about it.

I think it is wonderful to see these youngsters enjoying themselves, and there are far worse things they could be doing.

I don't think it is a natural progression from carting to stealing cars, in fact I feel the reverse would be more accurate as the carters get rid of any aggression on the track.|||If it was in an environment where strict attention is paid on the safety of the youngsters, and professionals are involved,, then I don't think there is any problem with children being allowed to do this.

What I do hate are these small mini motorbikes which seem to be the craze now. I have noticed children, where I live, around my sons age (10), zoom up and down the pavement, and the road! on these with no helmets on and paying absolutely no attention to pedestrians or road users. How they have managed to stay accident free I just don't know.

i have a go kart and i want to know if you can put a snow plow on the front of it?|||Yes, but you won't be able to plow much snow with it. Snow is heavy. Go-Karts are light. You need weight to move snow. All you'd do is build up a pile of snow maybe three or four inches high in front of the plow blade and your wheels would start to spin. Not very productive. You'd be better off with a professional snow plow. Or a shovel.

Go to a bumper car ride if you want to crash into something.|||Besides not being designed for collisions like bumper cars are, go-karts are much, much faster - a good bump to a bumper car traveling a couple of MPH that causes it to spin partially around is no big deal, but the same spin to a go-kart traveling 20-30 MPH could whip the driver right out of the kart onto the track.|||It is because of health and safety, as if someone gets hurt or injured the ride company is held responsible. It is probabely seen as aggressive as well. Your best bet is to just carry on bumping and if the man or woman tells you to stop just bump him too. :)|||I fully agree with that rule. the go karts are not designed for being bumped, and it will really hurt OR the kart will get damaged, or most likely both. they are designed for speed. do bumper cars if ya wanna do that.

EDIT: Do you have any idea of what liability insurance would cost for the track that you are proposing? You have juveniles racing un-inspected, unlicensed vehicles with minimal safety equipment around a dirt track. Oh, yeah, that's an underwriter's dream.

|||The only one I know of is Competition Racing, out near Lawerenceburg. The bad news is, they have their own carts, I doubt they would let you take yours on their track (liability issues).

I suppose you may be able to rent time at a real race track, otherwise you'll probably have to do something like buy a couple of acres and create your own dirt track.|||Sycamore Trails might allow motorized vehicles, but I'm not entirely sure. Your best bet would be to contact the Cincinnati Parks Department: (513) 352-4080, and find out if they can provide any places for you to go.

I'm sure you could drive that thing around Norwood and no one would care.

Are Go-Karts street legal in Dallas, TX neighborhoods?

I really want to buy a little dunebuggy for by neighborhood and backyard. If its legal I will.|||if you only drive it on your property it is. But you cant drive it on the street or in the alleys legally.

My go-karts steering will jerk to the right when i go over bumps, Why?

All i did was grease everything with some WD-40, and when i drive and hit bumps, it jerks to the right. Could it be the shocks? i didnt grease the shocks but could it be that since a greased everything the shocks are more sensitive to everything? I havent run into anything, so nothing should be off.|||Could be a shock failure, if the WD40 has eaten the seal then this could be a problem

Do you have adjustable shocks? Try adjusting and test at slow speed to see if that helps

Are your ball joints worn? WD 40 will dissolve grease in ball joints

IF someone has the same kart shocks, see if trying those solves the problem.

Maybe your tyres are incorrect pressure or you have tyre wear due to that 180 turn which may have put something out of alignment causing bad tyre alignment?|||There may be nothing wrong mechanicly with the steering, it could just be "Bump steer' which is associated with front end design.|||Look at the steering linkage; the left side should be the same height (from the ground) as the right. If they are different they will move differently as well. Your friend probably bent something that can be bent back.|||typically when you hit a bump on anything with wheels and i motor the wheel turns hold the steering tighter and see it it does it again

If you have a multi-gear bike, experiment with it:

A small gear on the engine (or pedals), with a large gear on the drive wheel = quick acceleration and lots of low-end power, but not much speed.

Large gear on the engine and small gear on the drive wheel = slower acceleration, but more top speed.

The manufacturers try to find a happy medium, with 4-wheelers/go-karts having more acceleration and less speed (because they're mainly built for off-road use), while street motorcycles have sprockets designed for them to travel at high speeds.|||If both were the same size as the one on the back wheel (and the engine and internal gearing wasn't modded at all), you'd go like a bat out of hell - if you could get going at all. It would very likely stall.

On a stunt sportbike, a common modification is to use a very large sprocket on the back wheel - this allows finer control, and reduced speed (as it isn't necessary in stunting).|||this is calle d'fear ratios', and it has to do w/ the torque the engin puts out and the transfere to the wheel. ever look at a bicycle and see the range of gears? larger in the rear and smaller in the front give more torque/power and reverse give more speed/ less torque.|||Its all about gear ratios. If you made the countershaft sprocket large and the drive sprocket small, the bike would take forever to get up to speed, but would have a top speed of 250mph+.

If they were the same size...you would still move, its just that the wheel would be moving at the same revolutions as the engine ...|||w/ a name like isaac, you should know math, it is a mathematical formula, of how many turns of the motor to turn the wheel one revolution, then the gear box gives you another ratio of turns if both were the same it would be a one to one ratio

Try to get Goodyear....|||i will be honest and i have never done this but like make some flyers and put them up in stores.they usually have like a bulltein board by their exits.u could also ask if u could talk to the stores manager and just throw it out there to the dude.just spit ballin but watever|||Print Hero Cards with your picture and car on it. Put stats on the backside. Make the whole bottom backhalf of the card a coupon for a sponsor. Mock one up off of your printer. Put a prospective sponsor on the coupon featuring some discount that would make sense for their business. When you meet with the prospective sponsor, promise to print enough hero cards to hand out at the ticket booth to the fans for all season. I ran a late model stock car for a while and this worked fantastic for both the sponsor and for me.

I want to know what I will need what cc of kart i will need and all the gear and some websites I live in Colorado also i have been riding atvs for almost 7 yrs now so I have tons of exp and I have a lil 5 hp dirt go kart that I'm gonna put a bigger motor in it and make it a sand kart. possibly |||You can choose one of the Yamaha 100cc classes, they don't have as much power as the 125 TAGs but are cheap and simple to buy and run.

Which class you choose depends on what races at the tracks near your area so your best bet is to pay them a visit.

Apart from the kart you will need a racing suit, helmet, possibly a rib protector, gloves, usually they have to be homologated, especially the helmet should be as expensive as you can afford.

Also maybe a trolley for the kart and some tools.

How to go faster on go karts ?

when i say that, i mean like how much would i be spending towards racing per year, and or month, week etc... besides the buying of the racing go-kart. i am interrested in racing go-karts, i am only 13 sooooo please help!!! =)|||Several thousand to get started and at least a thousand a month or more to race.|||Take the other approach, how much racing can you afford?

Once you define that, it determines what class to run in and how often. Pick the events to compete in based on chances of winning and cost to compete.

Go-Kart racing has many levels, if you start low, it is easier to be competitive on a smaller budget. The less you invest in a car and the other things, the more races you can run in. The more races you run in the more experience you gain.

Go to some local go-kart races, get a pit pass and talk to the teams. Get a rule book and start planning based on what you can afford.|||Kelsi, the best places to start are going to www.nkn.com That is the website for the National Karting News website. You'll find alot of information there. If you don't see what you're looking for, don't hesitate to call them. They will send you a copy of the magazine with articles about getting started. They also have 2 buying guide issues devoted to karts and protective gear.

Another way, (How I done it) was to join a racing team, and the mechanic or owner would find one for you, (First and Second hand).

Also, try eBay - there are many new and powerful go karts which are quite cheap, for example, you may find a 拢1250 go kart, but on eBay, after bidding they are usually about 拢750.

Don't forget that there are many go karting championships, and depending on your age and weight, you will need to find your class, which specifies what type of engines you can use, etc.

Please note that just because you have a go kart does NOT mean you may turn up to races and race straight away. You will need to have a ARKS test (www.arks.co.uk) and pending that you succeed, you then will have to apply for a MSA license, and then you may start racing in championships and test days.

Not forgetting that Karting is a very expensive sport, and will require financial commitment.

Also remember that with me, i spend about 拢400 per race, this includes tyres, etc.

I want to a lot, but i'm the only girl now and my aunt was a bmx racer but i have no tracks to race on, and i am a good racer but im starting to wonder if i should continue trying to convince them. How much difference between go-karts and actual car driving?

in terms of handling and stuff.|||Real cars weigh what, 8 to 10 times as much as a go-kart? The stopping distances are much greater, the speed and acceleration is much slower and the driver's mentality and goal is vastly different.

Also on the real streets, the driver's skills are tremendously different from driver to driver, unlike go-karting.

If you can handle a go-kart, you'll be able to drive easily.

Just remember, on the track there isn't a highway patrolman with a radar gun watching you.|||They are completely different. Remember, a kart has no suspension. So everything's different. If you've raced karts and are going to begin driving cars, the biggest adjustment is learning to drive with one foot! However, your instinct and reflexes that you learn when driving a kart will serve you well on the road.

Side note to BM: While rental karts are restricted and thus slow, true racing karts routinely run 60-80 mph and many are faster than that. Our kid karters (age 5-7) race at appx. 30 mph, and our 8-12 year olds race at around 45 mph. Adult classes easily reach speeds higher than cars.|||Go-karts are a lot easier to drive, and have really good handling because they can't go as fast as a real car. A real car is also very sensitive when you touch the brake and gas, so yeah.....|||Just imagine a go-kart on a much larger scale. The main difference, aside from size/weight/power, is the timing. Everything is a go-kart is tight (steering, braking, acceleration) but in a real car these things take longer to function. You actually have to plan your maneuvers in advance, which most people who drive don't think about because is becomes second nature. You have to begin braking way sooner, turn slower, and pay attention to your environment. Also, there are laws that have to be obeyed when driving a real car on the streets.

If you can drive a go-kart, you have a basic idea of how to drive. But in order to drive a real car you need to practice a bit to get used to the differences. It could be a matter of life and death (for you and others), rather than just an injury from the kart.

Please Help :-)|||A blue Clone is a Box stock, Blue is typically a Lifan or Jaingdong, where Yellow is typically a Ducar, Red and Black I cant remember right at the moment, but I can assure you there a Chinese Honda 196cc 6.5HP copy, as in Clone. there's a few how to remove governor videos on Youtube and plenty of vender's for the racing parts, depending on what part of the country your from, US that is, as to what we consider a box stock, out here in CA, were pushing the envelope on what is legal, as to changing the timing, jetting the carb, header and intake, milling the head and block, changing the cam, and still calling that a Box Stock, where as in other parts of the country you pull it out of the box you got it in, Blue being Harbor Freight in most cases, and run it with no changes allowed. which would be the true meaning of Box Stock, if you want an engine already set up with all the goodies check these guys out. you can just buy the $85 dollar kit and put it on your blue harbor freight engine after you remove the governor but the Yellow Ducar are better. and they come already set up.

hi i don't get how go kart steering works. I need to know because i'm trying to make one but I am stumped by the steering process. Will someone please explain how the pitman arm and tie rods work? Thank you.|||On modern race karts they use Ackermann steering, however if you are making your own I will advise it old-skool.

The wheels are connected to stub axles, which have bearings in the top and bottom for a kingpin bolt to go through. They have an arm which sticks out backwards, on each side of the kart. A tie rod then connects the arms to an arm at the bottom of the steering tube. Use rose joints at either end of the tie rods, this will make connecting it easier, and it also means there is some adjustment in length so that the wheels point in a straight line.

You can buy used equipment and get started for 1000-2000. To be anywhere near competitive you will be looking at new karts that costs 3000+. Don't forget about maintenance. To be honest with you most sponsors pick kids that are 15 and under with at least 6+ years of experience. Sponsors want them young so they can mold them into better drivers. Not only do they look for young individuals, but also talented or skilled kids with many years under their belt. You can still go karting now and build up your skills. Maybe a scout will find you if you really have something.

Thanks!|||I've only been to any of the Pole Position facilities a couple times, but their karts and charging equipment look very much like the OTL Italia karts from what I recall (which also makes a junior model, which I recall Pole Position has these too). I am all for educating children and teens for good driving values through go-karts. Driving a kart requires smoothness and accuracy in handling the controls. Driving a kart is about maintaining a certain pace around the track. It also includes a cornering strategy called "Slow-in, Fast-out" where you enter the corner slow and with a safety margin and maintain it around the corner.

The kart driver will have sharper responses, more confidence (but not over-confidence that comes from over-estimating your control) and a better understanding of a car. He will also learn to uphold driving as a value: Not to drive under poor physical or emotional conditions, how to show sportmenship towards other drivers, and how important it is to remain perfectly focused on the road.

However, the go-kart has some drawbacks: It moves around a closed and well known-in-advance track, with high and consistent grip. The kart has an unbelievably low center of gravity, slick tires, no suspension or wheel alignment, mechanical steering with an exceptionally short rack, a completly different driving posture relative to a car, an open cockpit with no passengers, and a perfectly rigid chassis. It has rear-wheel drive without any kind of drivetrain (gearbox or differential).

Overall, I think it's a very good thing. It's also an exceptional thing to drive by it's own, the closest thing to a proper Single-Seater car (like a Formula-1 car). Exceptional.

Why dont go karts have numbers on the back?

We've recently started going go karting regularly and was wondering last night why they only have numbers on the front. Its hard when you know kart 15 (for example) is the driver in front of you in the race but you dont know which kart he is. Your could be chasing karts that are lapping you for example. Any ideas why they dont have numbers on the back so you know who your chasing?|||Simple answer... most karts do. The organizing bodies that handle kart racing that I am familar with require numbers front and rear (if not more). And the arrive and drive facilities I've used in the last few years also generally have numbers front and back.

But, with the later, it is entirely upto the owners of the facility, and it sounds like you are doing an arrive and drive rather than running your own karts? In that case, you will need to ask the place you are running why they don't put the numbers on the back... though most likely it's a practical reason (ie, for reasons in aiding regular service they do not keep a certain panel on the kart, which is where a number plate is designed to attach, or something similar).|||They have the numbers on the back and the sides around here. It really doesn't matter who you are behind, you need to pass them no matter what their number is.|||Numbers are required on the back of the kart for WKA events. If the number comes off or for some reason is unreadable the kart must pit to repair it. If they don't the kart is DQ'ed.

The pressure from ecologist have restricted all public lands in Northern Oregon.

In Southern Oregon, there are many designated forest areas for quad and motorcycle use. Basically, the rule is: if there is a gate across it, or grass is growing on it, do not go there. All other roads and many trails are open for quads and motorcycles.|||There actually is a place where u can ride quads, dune buggies, go karts, dirt biking ect.. Its a place called Sand Lake Beach/Sand dunes in Oregon. Its about 2 hours away from Portland at the beach. I go there all the time %26amp; I think its one of the best places to go quading in Oregon.

Go by yourself sometimes and practice what I've told you, you'll pick up speed and finish in a shorter time.|||in real life to control some go karts you have to:

step on the pedal

keep stepping on it for 4-5 seconds

then let go for about 1-2 seconds

then keep doing the same pattern untill you think you have got enough speed.
