Im 14 and i want to start racing go karts

I want to know what I will need what cc of kart i will need and all the gear and some websites I live in Colorado also i have been riding atvs for almost 7 yrs now so I have tons of exp and I have a lil 5 hp dirt go kart that I'm gonna put a bigger motor in it and make it a sand kart. possibly |||You can choose one of the Yamaha 100cc classes, they don't have as much power as the 125 TAGs but are cheap and simple to buy and run.

Which class you choose depends on what races at the tracks near your area so your best bet is to pay them a visit.

Apart from the kart you will need a racing suit, helmet, possibly a rib protector, gloves, usually they have to be homologated, especially the helmet should be as expensive as you can afford.

Also maybe a trolley for the kart and some tools.

I suggest you go here and subscribe to the forums.

|||well my son is 10 and he races go karts but not for champions though but im trying to get him in that level because hes undefeated|||first of all to be competitive your going to need about 10,000$ to get started...............good luck !!!|||take ur 5hp engine take an go-kart chassis get both of them married(i mean put the engine in tht chassis) and start racing.....good u have experience in ATV's so u can do well....cause u knw abt car control.....learn abt racing lines...cornering.....(if u dnt kno already...) an 5hp go kart is gr8 to start....if built properly it must reach an 70kmh top speed....so good luck....i would suggest u tht u better race in rental karts(many wont) why?? cause they lay in very bad condition(usuall)...so u may get an good experience of driving an go-kart with bad set-up...(but thats my personal view...and i dont know nothing abt the place wer u stay and if it costs a bomb to rent a go-kart for few laps...bah...blah)....like there is an quotation"expect the best and prepare yourself for the worst"......maybe am wrong(just started racing few years ago).....whatever good..luck......a suggestion:dont drive the karts on the grass...the wheels spin...but the karts dont move..unlike ATV's.......LOL.....;-).........
