What is the average speed of a racing go kart? (My son wants to start racing, we just don't know how fast the go kart should be.) Thanks|||Indoor kart's can go as fast as 45mph.
80cc and 125cc shifter karts can get up to 115 mph dependent upon the gearing and track straight length.
Good luck to your son.|||It depends on the track and the kart. And his age. On 2 cycle karts, there are Sportsman and Junior classes. Sportsman is age 8-12 and Junior is age 12-15. The Sportsman karts have a smaller carburetor and will typically run up to about 45-50 mph. The Junior karts have a larger carb and will go quite a bit faster, up to 70 mph or so. Again, depending on the track, he may be a bit slower; our track is short and lots of turns, the straights are not as long as many tracks so the karts don't get the chance to live up to their capabilities.|||35 to 45 make sure he wears a helmet and do not bump anyone
